Display and Signage Policy
The Archer Library is committed to fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and neutral environment for all patrons. The Library respects the diverse backgrounds and beliefs of the community it serves while upholding its role as a secular institution. In support of this commitment, the Library does not display religious or cultural symbols—or other imagery—that could reasonably be perceived as an endorsement or promotion of a specific faith, culture, or language.
This policy applies to all public areas of the Library, including displays, decorations, signage, and digital content. Exceptions may be granted for educational or historical displays in which such symbols are presented in an objective, informational context that supports the Library’s mission of providing access to knowledge and fostering cultural understanding. These displays must be clearly labeled and curated to avoid the appearance of endorsing any specific religion or cultural perspective.
Books and other library materials that include religious or cultural symbols as part of their original artwork or publication design are exempt from this policy but may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis to ensure consistency with the Library’s standards.
Questions or concerns regarding this policy may be directed to the Librarian.
